The side effects of binge television: Watching many consecutive hours of a single TV series changes the viewing experience, not always for the better. And the trend may change how shows are made.

Binge television: n. any instance in which more than three episodes of an hourlong drama or six episodes of a half-hour comedy are consumed at one sitting. Syn.: Marathon television and being a TV critic.
Perhaps this will help me to finally stop watching every episode of Star Trek ever made in consecutive order.
It doesn’t help to know that I can use Netflix on my phone.
This is a fascinating article. I have “binged” on television a few times, and I have noticed that it’s not very satisfying. It also does bring to lite inconsistencies in television that I’ve always thought just happen. I guess it’s a part of my upbringing. I’ve grown up in the years of television shows on DVD. I think it will be interesting to see what the screenwriters change about how the story is told, to fit this kind of television watching behavior.
